Factors for Plantation Shutters Cost

When it comes to plantation shutters and blinds, no two projects are the same. Our shutters are made to measure with a range of customisable options.

Size and Shape
Material (PVC shutters, Timber Plantation Shutters or Aluminium Plantation Shutters)
Mount Options (Hinge or Bi-Fold)
Frames (Standard or Bullnooze)
Local or Off-Shore Made

How do I get the right measurements?

You may check each of your window measurements by yourself with a tape measure for the purpose of rough quote. It does not have to be 100% accurate, because we always do check measure afterwards at your home.

Or simply send us email of clear view of your windows without any covering, we will show you how to measure up

Can shutters be installed outside the home?

Normally we talk about indoor plantation shutters, but we do supply Aluminium Plantation Shutters for outdoor areas like bbq, patio, and balcony. They are weather proof with 20 years warranty.

Do plantation shutters offer 100% black out?

A huge amount our work involves shutters in bedrooms and nurseries, without any concerns regarding light. We would never suggest that our shutters are 100% blackout (due to tolerances required for slat movement and the opening and closing of panels) but they aren’t far off.

Do you offer warranty? How long will it last and what it covers?

Yes, as a local manufacturer / retailer, we offer genuine local warranty with extensive parts and hardware available in Melbourne factory. Our plantation shutters are backed by genuine 10 years warranty. Please contact us for specific product enquiries. Fading and discolouring will not be coved.

How do I order?

To get started you need a quote from us based on your desired shutters and specifications. You can either book an in-home service for precious measurement. Alternatively you can provide us rough measurement before we do check measure later on.

How long does the process take?

We do offer super fast service as soonest as 10 business days or you may try our standard in few weeks.

Care & Maintenance

How to clean plantation shutters?
  1. Dust Regularly: Use a microfiber cloth or a vacuum cleaner with a brush attachment to gently remove dust and debris from the slats.
  2. Deep Cleaning: For a more thorough clean, especially in high-moisture areas like kitchens and bathrooms, wipe each slat with a soft, damp cloth. Add mild soapy water if needed to remove stubborn stains.
  3. Timber Shutters Care: Avoid harsh chemicals and excessive moisture on wood or timber shutters, as this can damage the finish or cause warping over time.
  4. PVC & Aluminium Shutters: These materials are more moisture-resistant and can be cleaned with water or gentle household cleaners for a deeper clean.
  5. Consistency is Key: Regular maintenance not only keeps your shutters looking spotless but also extends their lifespan and preserves their elegant appearance.

Pros & Cons / Value

Are plantation shutters a better choice than other window coverings?

Definitely! While plantation shutters might cost a bit more upfront or allow for some light leakage due to moving parts, the benefits truly make up for it. They’re durable, easy to maintain, and give you great flexibility in terms of light control and privacy. Plus, they add a timeless, stylish touch to any room and can even help with insulation. Compared to regular blinds or curtains, plantation shutters are a smart, long-lasting investment that blends practicality with elegance.

Are there any disadvantages to plantation shutters?

While plantation shutters offer excellent insulation, privacy, and style, there are a few considerations:

Higher upfront cost compared to other window coverings like roller blinds and curtains
May not fully block out the light, as they have multiple moving parts such as movable louvre blades
May not suit every décor style or window shape
However, many find that the long-term benefits far outweigh these minor drawbacks.

Are plantation shutters a worthwhile investment?

Absolutely. Plantation shutters are one of the smartest upgrades you can make for your home. Their timeless, elegant design enhances any space, offering elevated aesthetics along with practical benefits such as improved insulation, energy efficiency, precise light control, and greater privacy. Built for long-term durability and low maintenance, they eliminate the need for frequent replacements. Many homeowners also find that plantation shutters boost property value, making them a popular choice for both comfort and resale appeal.

Do plantation shutters add value to a home?

Yes, plantation shutters are a worthwhile investment that can add real value to your home. Their timeless design, long-term durability, and elevated aesthetics enhance both interior style and curb appeal. Offering excellent light control, improved insulation, and energy efficiency, they contribute to year-round comfort while reducing energy costs. Low maintenance and built to last, plantation shutters often eliminate the need for additional window coverings. These combined benefits make them an attractive feature for potential buyers and a smart, long-term investment in both functionality and home value.

Durability & Lifespan

How long do plantation shutters typically last?

Plantation shutters are built to last a lifespan of 15 to 25 years or more, depending on the material, usage, and level of maintenance. High-quality shutters made from durable materials like PVC or aluminium can offer exceptional longevity with minimal upkeep. Hardwood shutters also have a long lifespan but require regular care to maintain their appearance and prevent bending and warping. With proper maintenance, plantation shutters remain a robust, stylish, and long-term window covering solution that adds value and functionality to any home.

Suitability & Types

Which type of plantation shutters are best suited for bathrooms & kitchens?

PVC plantation shutters are the best choice for bathrooms and kitchens. They are moisture-resistant, easy to clean, durable, and won’t warp, peel or crack like timber, in humid environments. Unlike timber, PVC handles steam and splashes with ease, making it a practical and low-maintenance option for wet areas while still offering the stylish look of traditional plantation shutters. Look for reinforced aluminium-core shutters for added durability in wet areas, as natural PVC can be quite heavy.

Payment Methods

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept a variety of payment methods, including credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Amex), debit cards, and bank transfers. We also offer a minimum 6-month interest-free payment plan where available. For large orders, ask us about our 12 to 48-month interest-free payment options.

Functionality (Heat & Light Control)

Do window plantation shutters block heat and light?

Yes, plantation shutters are highly effective at blocking heat and managing light. At AAA Plantation Shutters, our adjustable slats let you control the amount of sunlight entering your home—allowing sunlight in during winter and blocking the harsh heat in summer. The solid frame adds insulation, helping to reduce heat transfer and maintain a more energy-efficient, comfortable living space. While plantation shutters aren’t 100% blockout due to their moving parts, we can provide an additional blockout layer behind the shutters for those seeking near-total light control.

Warranty

Do Plantation Shutters Come with a Warranty?
Yes! All of our plantation shutters come with a manufacturer-backed warranty.  Depending on the material, warranties typically range from 10 to 20 years. Our team ensures that every installation meets the highest standards to deliver long-term durability and performance.
What Does the Warranty Cover?

Our standard shutter warranty covers:

  1. Manufacturing defects in materials or workmanship
  2. Warping or cracking under normal use
  3. Paint or finish peeling (on painted or stained shutters)
  4. Hardware issues, such as faulty hinges or metal control rods

This means that if your shutters develop issues due to poor manufacturing — and not from misuse or external damage — they will be repaired or replaced under warranty.

What Is Not Covered Under Warranty?

Like most home furnishing warranties, ours does not cover:

    1. Damage caused by misuse, accidents, or improper cleaning
    2. Exposure to harsh chemicals or excessive moisture (e.g., using wood shutters in wet areas such as bathrooms)
    3. Normal wear and tear, including minor fading or surface scratches
    4. Unauthorised modifications or installation by a non-approved contractor
    5. We recommend following our care and maintenance guidelines to keep your shutters in excellent condition.
How Long Is the Warranty Valid?

Warranty terms vary depending on the type of shutter:

  1. PVC structure: 10-year warranty
  2. Aluminium shutters: Up to 20 years
  3. Basswood or timber shutters: Up to 5 years
  4. Hardware and installation: Typically, 10 years

Always check your product documentation for specific details, or feel free to contact us for assistance.

Is Installation Covered Under Warranty?

Yes, when you purchase plantation shutters along with professional installation from us, the workmanship is covered for up to 10 years. This protects you against defects caused by improper fitting or structural installation errors.

How Do I Make a Warranty Claim?

To make a warranty claim:

  1. Contact our customer support team with your invoice number and product details.
  2. Provide clear photos of the issue for assessment.
  3. Our team will guide you through the process and, if eligible, arrange a repair or replacement.
